Government Communications Systems Division is located in Melbourne/Palm Bay,
Florida, approximately 30 miles south of Cape Canaveral on the East Coast and
conducts advanced research studies, develops prototypes, and produces a broad range
of state-of-the-art systems for government agencies and commercial organizations in
the U.S. and overseas. These include advanced aerospace communication and
information processing systems; air traffic control systems; weather and imaging
processing systems; support systems including training/simulation; and automatic test
control systems for energy management; law enforcement systems; real-time and
relational database computer systems; Geospatial Image databases and 3-D site
modeling.
JOB TITLE: Software Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Join the Harris team to help design and develop cutting edge communications and information processing
software systems! Our software engineers produce state of the art systems and products in support of
many domains, including communications, air traffic control, aircraft avionics, weather processing, image
and signal processing, simulation and training, enterprise-level information systems, storage and
dissemination, antenna control, robotic systems, and user interfaces. Developers utilize modern software
languages (C/C++/C#, Java, HTML, XML, SQL, Perl, Python, Ajax) on Windows, Unix (Solaris, Linux),
and embedded real time operating systems (VxWorks, RTLinux, Greenhills, Windows CE, and others for
Motorola, Intel, TI, and custom processor designs). Harris software engineers are well trained and
operate in a mature, SEI CMMI Level 3 environment. Our analysis and design methodologies use UML
with Rational Rose for application development and Rhapsody for embedded development, integrated
with configuration management tools such as ClearCase and requirements management tools such as
DOORS.
TECHNICAL SKILLS: C, C++/C#, Java, HTML, XML, SQL, 4GL, Windows, .NET, Unix,
SOA, and/or Embedded Systems
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical &
Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics,
Digital Arts & Sciences, or Computational Media
GPA of 2.8 or greater required. Positions require a security clearance, or the ability to
obtain one. In addition to a favorable investigation of your background, a security
clearance is only granted to U.S. citizens.
