SEAGEP Undergraduate Research Award

The South East Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (SEAGEP) is a member of the National Science Foundation Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate family of programs designed to increase diversity in the nation's professoriate in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by providing students with exceptional Ph.D. experiences.

Undergraduates in all of the science majors at FIU, may apply to conduct research at their home campus through the SEAGEP Research Experience for Undergraduates. This award will be available every Fall and Spring to qualifying candidates. Students must submit a completed SEAGEP application with their mentor's signature, and they must attach an abstract/summary of the research project they completed. Students can not enter the same research project more then once.

Requirements:

  1. Must be a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent U.S. Resident (proof of residency required)
  2. Must have a G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher
  3. Must be a fully admitted undergraduate at FIU
  4. Must show an intended major in a STEM Field and be following that curriculum, the majors are: all of the engineering majors, computer science, information technology, Physics, Math, Statistics, Geology, Chemistry, and Biology (non-medical)

Please note: Those students chosen to receive the award that have financial need, and have applied for financial aid and were approved, will be awarded a scholarship. For those that don't have financial need and have not applied for financial aid, will receive a stipend, (stipends are taxable).
