Call for Papers

IEEE Sixth International Symposium on Multimedia Software Engineering (IEEE-MSE2004) is an international forum for researchers and practitioners in multimedia and software engineering to exchange information regarding advancements in the state of the art and practice of multimedia software engineering, as well as to identify the emerging research topics and define the future of multimedia. The technical program of IEEE-MSE2004 will consist of invited talks, paper presentations, and panel discussion. IEEE-MSE2004 will also include a few special tracks dedicated to focus areas such as multimedia web services, multimedia enabled e-learning and bioinformatics. Submission of high quality papers and special tracks describing mature results or on-going work are invited.

Topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:

  • Multimedia system architecture

  • Multimedia streaming, networking and QoS

  • Multimedia meta-modeling techniques and operating systems

  • Architecture specification languages

  • Software development using multimedia techniques

  • Multimedia tools including authoring, analyzing, user interfaces, and interaction models

  • Multimedia file systems, databases and retrieval

  • Multimedia collaboration

  • Multimedia enabled e-business

  • Pervasive and interactive multimedia systems including mobile systems and digital TV

  • Intelligent agents for multimedia content creation, distribution and analysis

  • Internet telephony and hypermedia technologies and systems

  • Multimedia security including digital watermark and encryption

  • Multimedia systems and applications in education

  • Distributed multimedia systems and applications

  • Multimedia and Grid computing

  • Multimedia and autonomic computing

  • Multimedia Web services

  • Multimedia enabled e-learning

  • Bioinformatics

  • Complex Application System Management

Submissions

The written and spoken language of MSE2004 is English. Full papers must not exceed 20 pages printed using at least 11-point type and double spacing. All papers should in Adobe portable document format (PDF) or PostScript format. The paper should have a cover page, which includes a 200-word abstract, a list of keywords, and author's phone number and e-mail address. The Conference Proceedings will be published by the IEEE Computer Society Press. A number of the papers presented at the conference will be selected for a possible publication in journals. An electronic version of the full paper should be submitted by June 15, 2004 to the symposium website (http://www.cs.fiu.edu/MSE04). If web submission is not possible, manuscripts should be sent as an attachment via email to the Program Chair.
