The First ACM International
Workshop on Multimedia Databases will take place in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA
on November 7 2003. The target audiences will be university researchers,
scientists, industry professionals, software engineers and graduate students who
need to become acquainted with new theories and technologies in multimedia
databases, and to all those who wish to gain a detailed technical understanding
of what multimedia databases involve. The workshop will provide a forum for
original research contributions and practical system design, implementation, and
applications of multimedia databases. ACM MMDB 2003 will be held in conjunction
with The 12th International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management
(ACM CIKM 2003).
Topics of interest include but are not limited to the
following:
- multimedia database query processing
- multimedia database query languages
- multimedia database engine
- multimedia data modeling
- multimedia data indexing
- multimedia database searching
- multimedia data storage
- image/video/audio databases
- multimodal databases
- distributed multimedia databases
- content-based retrieval
- multimedia synchronization model
- new standards (XML, MPEG-7, etc.)
- multimedia database applications
Instructions for authors:
Papers reporting original and unpublished research results on the above and
related topics are solicited. All submitted papers will be refereed for quality,
originality and relevance by the Program Committee. The acceptance/rejection of
the papers will be based on the review results. All questions should be
addressed to the PC co-chairs.
Authors need to submit an abstract (in ascii) via email to
chens@cs.fiu.edu by May 20, 2003. An electronic version (PDF format) of the
full paper should be submitted by May 28, 2003 to the workshop website (http://www.cs.fiu.edu/mmdb03).
Papers must be prepared in such a way that ensures they will print anywhere.
Thus, you should avoid using special fonts. Manuscripts must be in English and
should not exceed 5000 words. Submissions should include the title, author(s),
author's affiliation, e-mail address, tel/fax numbers, abstract, and postal
address on the first page.
If electronic submission is not possible, please send four copies of the paper
to the following postal address:
