The Second ACM International
Workshop on Multimedia Databases (ACM-MMDB 2004) will take place
in Hyatt Arlington Hotel, Arlington, VA, USA on November 13,
2004. The target audiences will be university researchers,
scientists, industry professionals, software engineers and
graduate students who need to become acquainted with new
theories and technologies in multimedia databases, and to all
those who wish to gain a detailed technical understanding of
what multimedia databases involve. The workshop will provide a
forum for original research contributions and practical system
design, implementation, and applications of multimedia
databases. ACM MMDB 2004 will be held in conjunction with The
13th International Conference on Information and Knowledge
Management (ACM CIKM 2004).

Instructions for
authors:
Papers reporting original and unpublished research results on the above
and related topics are solicited. All submitted papers will be refereed
for quality, originality and relevance by the Program Committee. The
acceptance/rejection of the papers will be based on the review results.
All questions should be addressed to the PC co-chairs.
Authors need to submit an abstract (in ascii) via email to
chens@cs.fiu.edu by June 5, 2004. An electronic version (PDF format) of
the full paper should be submitted by June 12, 2004 to the workshop website
(http://www.cs.fiu.edu/mmdb04). Papers must be prepared in such a way that
ensures they will print anywhere. Thus, you should avoid using special
fonts. Manuscripts must be in English and should not exceed 8,000 words
(approximately 8 double-column pages). Submissions should include the title,
author(s), author's affiliation, e-mail address, tel/fax numbers, abstract,
and postal address on the first page.

Journal Special Issue:
In addition to the workshop proceedings,
selected submissions will be chosen by the Program Committee to be
submitted as full papers for a special issue for the
Information Systems Journal, Elsevier.
