Call for Papers

The First IEEE International Workshop on Multimedia Databases and Data Management (IEEE-MDDM 2006) will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, USA on April 8, 2006. The main objective of the first IEEE International Workshop on Multimedia Databases and Data Management (IEEE-MDDM 2006) is to provide a forum for discussing the problems and novel solutions in the management of multimedia data and multimedia databases. Original papers are being solicited in the general area of querying, searching, indexing, retrieval, and mining of multimedia data. The target audiences will be university researchers, scientists, industry professionals, software engineers, and graduate students who need to become acquainted with new theories and technologies in multimedia data management, and to all those who wish to gain a detailed technical understanding of what multimedia data management involves. IEEE MDDM 2006 will be held in conjunction with IEEE International Conference on Data Engineering (ICDE 2006).

Topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:

 
  • Multimedia data modeling

  • Multimedia data indexing

  • Multimedia data storage

  • Multimedia data organization and summarization

  • Approximate queries

  • Query, search, indexing, and retrieval of multimedia information

  • Secure multimedia data management

  • Image/video/audio databases

  • Multimodal databases

  • Distributed multimedia databases

  • Content-based retrieval

  • Multimedia data mining

  • New standards (XML, MPEG-7, etc.)

  • Novel techniques and applications

Instructions for authors:

Papers reporting original and unpublished research results on the above and related topics are solicited. All submitted papers will be refereed for quality, originality and relevance by the Program Committee. The acceptance/rejection of the papers will be based on the review results. All questions should be addressed to the PC co-chairs.

An electronic version (PDF format) of the full paper should be submitted by November 18, 2005 to the workshop website (http://www.cs.fiu.edu/mddm06). Papers must be prepared in such a way that ensures they will print anywhere. Thus, you should avoid using special fonts. Manuscripts should be in English and must not exceed 10 pages (IEEE format). Submissions should include the title, author(s), author's affiliation, e-mail address, tel/fax numbers, abstract, and postal address on the first page.
