Welcome to the scsnet-info mailing list. This is a new mailing list
that scs support staff will use to inform you about new features and
changes in the scs network.
Over the last year we have made a lot of changes to the SCS network and
have installed a number of software tools on both the NT and Unix
systems. Often tools and changes are initiated by user request, and
while the people who initiated the changes are informed of the neat new
tools, there has been no method to pass this information to the rest of
the user community. Now we have created this mailing list.
Users who have questions about the environment or the tools available
are encouraged to send them to scsnet-info@cs.fiu.edu. These inquiries
will *not* be imediately posted to the list, but will instead be sent
to support staff. Once a week or so we will review all questions,
answer them and send the answers to the whole list. This way everyone
will benefit from the curiosity of others.
Do not use this list for time critical questions or complaints, since
we will only review incoming email occasionally. Please mail time critical
problems to request@cs.fiu.edu for more efficient processing.
This mailing list will not be used to announce network and computer downtime
and other "critical" announcements. These will still be mailed directly
to all users in a timely fashion.
All department users are subscribed to this list initally. If you wish
to unsubscribe send a email message to scsnet-request@cs.fiu.edu with
the word "unsubscribe" as the body of the mail message. You can also
leave a phone message with someone at 2739 and we will manually remove
you from the mailing list.
This list will also be archived and the archives will be available via
the Web under http://www.cs.fiu.edu/support
