Description
Information and communication technologies (ICT) plays a central role in order to create a fully mobile and connected society where the right information is ready to be used by humans, machines and systems. The connection must be supported by networks that should be capable of providing the requirements of users and applications with a smarter and efficient use of resources. There are research challenges in order to deploy new network architectures and enable new types of applications considering a stringent set of requirements. This new category of applications is related with Internet of Thing (IoT), Smart Cities and Smart Environments in scenarios where a massive number of consumers and producers deal with huge amounts of real time information that must be transmitted, processed and analyzed. Several research initiatives go toward this direction such as 5G and the efforts called Future Internet research. At this moment different Future Internet Architectures (FIA) has been proposed and prototyped. The adoption of a new network architecture is related with the services and applications it supports. To deploy the Future Internet, new services based on the new network architectures must arise, a fully programmable infrastructure must evolve and the interconnection of the Future Internet based infrastructures that are already available must happen. This talk addresses some key topics in this area and present our vision and ongoing research in order collaborate with deployment of the Future Internet.
