Our Programs
The School of Computing and Information Sciences offers both a Master of Science degree and a Doctor of Philosophy degree. The Master of Science degree provides study in state-of-the-art computer applications as well as an introduction to the theoretical foundations of computer science. The Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science is designed to provide study in all major areas of computer science while leading to the frontiers of knowledge in a chosen field of concentration.
There are eight areas of specialization within the department: Database systems, Software Engineering, Parallel and distributed systems, Computer networks, Theory, Artificial intelligence, Cognitive Science and Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.

Financial assistance is available on a highly competitive basis in the form of fellowships and assistantships. Special fellowships are sometimes available for minority students and women. Only full-time students are eligible for assistantships. Click to see the current Graduate Assistant Payscale.
