Job Summary
Assists the Director with lab development, operations, effectiveness, and customer service. Coordinates computing lab operations and lab-related services, including procurement, inventory, and asset management. Consults with faculty and students to identify, recommend, and purchase equipment for laboratory research and instructional activities.
- Assists the Director with the design and implementation of new labs or the renovation of existing labs. Works with vendors, contractors, and internal technology staff, establishing scopes of work, timelines, and acceptance parameters for lab development projects. Identifies, specifies, evaluates, recommends, and purchases computer software, hardware, and support for equipment necessary to meet faculty and student requirements for research and instructional activities.
- Provides excellent customer service to faculty and students via the schools helpdesk as measured by initial response time and the time taken to resolve the task. Assures consistent quality of service for instructional and research technology users.
- Assists faculty in enhancing the curriculum with the use of educational technologies. Assess best practices and emerging technologies adopted in similar labs at other universities. Identifies and recommends ways to enhance student/faculty interaction and effectiveness using instructional and research computing. Conducts periodic lab surveys and reviews with the Director as part of a continuous improvement process.
- Performs essential duties in emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.

- Experience applying computer technologies in the areas of research and education.
- Experience in IT Customer Service.
- Knowledge in IT supply chain.
- Education in a technical field.
