ACM & WICS SCIS Tutoring Programs

Tutoring is offered free of charge to all students enrolled in courses offered by the School of Computing and Information Sciences. The service is offered jointly by the SCIS student organizations, Association for Computing Machinery and Women in Computer Science. Tutoring is not an official service offered by the school, and is not funded by tuition or lab fees.

Our tutors are undergraduate and graduate students who have generously offered to volunteer their time to help others. While we hope that we can be a great service to you, please keep in mind that this is a volunteer program, and should not be relied upon as a primary source of education.

For Students Seeking Tutoring...

Tutoring will be offered in the JCCL for the subjects and during the times listed below. Tutors also have the option of tutoring at other times on campus, by email, or online using desktop sharing software.

Tutors are here to aid students' learning of course material, and understanding of concepts. Tutoring is a supplement to - not a substitute for - classroom instruction and work on assignments. Please do not ask tutors for help with online quizzes/tests, nor to help you complete your programming assignments. Tutors may help debug your assignments, but cannot provide code for you.

There is often a high demand for tutoring services, so please seek tutoring as soon as you have a problem. It is possible that no tutors are available to help you with your initial request, so please plan in advance.

This service is offered as a way to help fellow students succeed, so please do not offer money, material rewards, or any type of favors to tutors.

Tutoring Availability:

A list of tutors and the courses that they tutor may be found at:

Most tutoring should occur in the JCCL [more or less] at the times specified. Tutors will be recognizable in the lab by the ACM-WICS Tutoring Signs that they have displayed at their stations. Tutors may not always be available during the times listed here, but if you notice that tutoring is consistently unavailable during one of these times, please contact a tutoring coordinator.

We also have a tutor at the Biscayne Bay campus.
