Sprinternship Program

The Knight Foundation School of Computing and Information Services (KFSCIS) at Florida International University (FIU) equips students with skills for careers in software engineering, data science, web development, and emerging technologies. Hands-on programs like the Sprinternship™, in partnership with Break Through Tech at Cornell Tech in New York City, offer students real-world experience, industry connections, and practical training to transition from academic study to professional success. These initiatives link leading employers and driven students, creating a collaborative pipeline of top tech talent that advances innovation within and beyond Miami.

Over 300 students have launched into Sprinternships™ and internships with 20+ employers, tackling real-world business challenges and making lasting connections with industry mentors and peers. Many have turned these experiences into full-time offers, demonstrating that hands-on learning and collaboration are key to building confidence, technical expertise, and professional networks. Sprinternship™ Fellows emerge ready to shape the future of Miami tech, inspired by the thrill of innovative projects and seeing their solutions deployed by leading companies. Past hosts include American Express, Miami Heat, UKG, Blackstone, Wild Fork, Miami-Dade County IT Department, City of Coral Gables, Southern Glazer Wine & Spirits, FEAM AERO, Baptist Health, TeleviaUnivision, LexisNexis Risk Solutions, ContinuEd, and Origen Tech.
