Worlds Ahead – Fausto Fleites

Fausto Fleites was born and raised in Havana, Cuba. Taught himself how to write computer programs. Studied Computer Science at Havana University. In 2004, left Cuba. Despite language challenges, Fausto graduated with a 3.99 GPA. Technical leader for Miami, Fl, Florida International University large-scale computer model to assess hurricane risks and to project annual expected insured residential losses in Florida. Currently the director of data science and graph computing at Senari, Inc. a startup company in Miami that is building the music graph of the world, which combines all knowledge about music.

Under the supervision of Dr. Shu-Ching Chen, Fausto C. Fleites is a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Computing and Information Sciences (SCIS) at FIU. He received his B.S. degree and M.S. degrees in Computer Science from FIU in 2009 and 2012, respectively. His research interests include scalable information processing, multimedia data mining, and semantic multi-dimensional tree-based indexing. In 2009, Fausto was awarded the Outstanding Graduate Award for Undergraduate Study from SCIS, and in 2010, the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s Technology Leaders Award in the category of Top Technology Student.
