In a story of reinvention and resilience, FIU alumna Mareline Ramirez swapped her biomedical dreams for a future in computer science—and never looked back. Once set on becoming a physician assistant, Ramirez found her true calling in tech during the pandemic. Her journey from FIU’s liberal studies program to a second bachelor’s in computer science led her to a coveted role at Bank of America’s Enterprise Cloud Product Management team.

As a first-generation college student from a Honduran immigrant family, Ramirez defied expectations and carved her own path—one filled with upskilling, leadership, and community engagement. From coding websites for student organizations to landing an internship at the Grace Hopper Celebration, she now stands at the forefront of a booming FinTech industry.
