FIU alumna Laura Castro ’25 didn’t just dream of working in Big Tech—she made it happen. After graduating with a degree in computer science from FIU’s Knight Foundation School of Computing and Information Sciences, Castro landed a coveted role as a software engineer at Microsoft, where she now helps shape the SharePoint experience for millions of users.
Her journey is one of grit, growth, and giving back. From leading Florida’s largest hackathon, ShellHacks, to interning at Facebook and Microsoft, Castro built a resume that opened doors—and inspired others. Today, she’s writing code that balances style and accessibility, while enjoying the perks of Microsoft’s treehouse meeting rooms and pickleball courts.
