Dr. Hadi Amini, associate professor in the Knight Foundation School of Computing and Information Sciences, received the 2025 IEEE Big Data Security Junior Research Award for his exceptional contributions to Big Data Security in Cyber-Physical Systems.

Amini’s work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, security, and cyber-physical systems has brought international visibility to FIU’s College of Engineering and Computing, further advancing areas aligned with the university’s strategic plan. His recognition as a leader in Big Data Security demonstrates both the national and international impact of his research group and their contributions to critical technological challenges.

Most recently, Amini’s expertise was highlighted in the college’s news feature, How poisoned data can trick AI — and how to stop it, which explored his research in developing safeguards to protect AI systems from malicious data manipulation.

In addition to his research leadership, Amini serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics & Security and IEEE Transactions on Machine Learning in Communications and Networking
