Veterans are thriving in the KFSCIS educational environment, and none more prominently than Justin Casale, Luis Sanchez, and Cynthia Tounn, three KFSCIS students who were selected as inaugural recipients of FIU’s inaugural Robert Henry Stovall Military Scholarship. Justin Casales is a Marine Corps veteran and senior studying cybersecurity. Luis Sanchez, also a Marine Corps veteran is a senior majoring in Information Technology, while Cynthia Tounn is a sophomore and Army veteran majoring in cybersecurity. These top students were three of nine students selected throughout the entire university for this prestigious new award.
The scholarship was created as part of a $200,000 gift to FIU from PayCargo’s President and CEO Eduardo del Riego, a 1982 graduate of FIU’s College of Business. Del Riego established the Robert Henry Stovall Military Scholarship, in honor of his foster father, a World War II veteran and prominent Wall Street investment analyst. The scholarship supports undergraduate students whose academic journeys have been influenced by their military experiences.
FIU scholarship recipients represent past, present, and aspiring servicemembers, who continue to uphold the military values of service, excellence, and integrity.
