US Patent granted to FIU SCIS Professor and PhD Student for compression system and algorithm
US Patent (#10,810,180 B1) entitled “Methods and Systems for Compressing Data” has been granted to Fahad Saeed and his PhD student (Muhammad Haseeb).
The innovation of the patent lies in the form of a compression system and algorithm that allows massive reduction in space needed for high-dimensional MS data. More interestingly the technique allows one to compress and process on this high dimensional data; without the need to decompress it. The patent uses techniques from data structures, algorithms, high performance architectures, and domain specific knowledge in systems biology and proteomics. The invention will help develop the next generation of high-performance computing algorithms needed for integration of multiomics data sets.
