What is DreamSpark ?

DreamSpark is a Microsoft software subscription service for qualifying departments of Higher Education Institutions to receive selected Microsoft software for eligible faculty, staff, lab and student use.

FAQ's

Am I elgible for access to DreamSpark ?

Access to DreamSpark is granted on a semester basis to students enrolled in a School of Computing and Information Sciences (SCIS) courses.

How will I gain access ?

Students will receive their DreamSpark username and password in an e-mail sent to their FIU e-mail address.

When will I receive my login information ?

Students will receive access to the DreamSpark resources after the Add/Drop date of the semester, provided they maintain enrolled in an SCIS course.

I never got an email with my account information. How do I get my account ID and password ?

All students registered for SCIS courses with software requirements have been enrolled in the DreamSpark and should have received an email with their login information after the add/drop date of the semester. If you did not receive it, please check your spam filters for it.

I am an IT or CS student, why do I not have access to the DreamSpark site?

Access to DreamSpark is granted on a semester basis to students enrolled in a School of Computing and Information Sciences (SCIS) courses. If you are not enrolled in any SCIS courses you do not get access to DreamSpark.

How do I use DreamSpark ?

Simply log in to the DreamSpark website, download the software you require and install it on your PC. Software as well as the required product keys will be sent your FIU e-mail address.

What is my username ?

Your username is your full FIU email address, for example jdoe001@fiu.edu

How do I edit my account information?

Once you have signed in to your account, click "Your Account/Orders" at the top of the page. Under "Account Management" you can change your account details and password.

How can I download the software I need ?

Software titles such as Microsoft Windows, SQL Server, Visual Studio, Project, Visio and more are available to download. The current software is only available in ISO format, and can be written to DVD or mounted by using a 3rd party utility. For instructions on working with ISO files see Working with image files. The JCCL (ECS 241 And ECS 237) and Graduate (ECS 252) labs are both equipped with DVD writers and software to facilitate the transfer to DVD. Our staff is also trained to answer any of your questions.

What is the Secure Download Manager(SDM) and why do I need it?

The Secure Download Manager (SDM) is a program for downloading files securely from your WebStore. When you download software from a WebStore that uses the SDM, you will be prompted to download and install the SDM to your computer. The SDM only needs to be installed once and provides for secure, effective and efficient file downloads.

Where can I find a link to download or re-download the software that I ordered ?

Sign in to DreamSpark using your login credentials. At the top of the page, click "Your Account/Orders". In the Order History section, select the software that you ordered and click "View Details". The product information including serial number(s) is displayed. In the Items section, click "Start Download" to begin your download.

How many downloads am I allowed for the same product?

A download is a completely successful downloaded item. You may attempt to download as many times as you want but it will only count as one download when you have successfully completed the download. By default, you are provided with two downloads, at a minimum, to successfully install the product.
Note: The second download is available as a back-up in case you need to re-install the software.

I registered for a course in a previous semester and need to access the downloads now.

DreamSpark program policies limit access to students registered during the current semester for eligible courses offered by the School of Computing & Information Sciences. If you are not enrolled in any SCIS courses you cannot get access to DreamSpark.

I downloaded the file but its very small. What happened?

The download was corrupted for some reason. Try to download the software again.

How do I get a new product key if I cannot find my old one ?

You can find your product key on the DreamSpark page. Sign in with your login credentials. Click "Your Account/Orders" at the top of the page. Under "Order History" find the order associated with your software and click "View Details". If there is a product key that needs to be entered, it will be shown in the "Items" sections of the page labeled "Product Key". If you do not see one there, it was most likely built-in to the ISO image you downloaded. You will need to find that ISO or download the software again.

How do I get a second key so I can install the software on my home PC and on my laptop ?

The program policies restrict each student to a single installation of any software package.

Who do I contact if I have not received my software in the mail?
