What is the MSDN Academic Alliance?
MSDNAA is a Microsoft software subscription service which allow qualifying departments of Higher Education Institutions to receive selected Microsoft software for eligible faculty, staff, lab and student use. Students currently enrolled in a CS Degree program who use the JCCL or Graduate lab are currently eligible to download and install a free copy of the selected Microsoft titles. What is ELMS?
E-academy's License Management System (ELMS) for MSDNAA is a complete, turnkey solution to automate the distribution and tracking of software available under the MSDNAA Program. ELMS automates the distribution of software and product keys to eligible users via the web, tracks all software downloads & installations, ensures that the MSDNAA software is always up-to-date, provides detailed usage reports and reduces the cost of physical media distribution and management. ELMS will allow students to securely download any of the MSDNAA content through your own private system. Students will receive access to software as well as the required product keys. How do I use it?
Students will receive their ELMS username and password in an e-mail sent to their FIU e-mail address. Simply log in to the ELMS website, download and install. Software access as well as the required product keys will be sent to their FIU e-mail address as well. Where is the ELMS website for FIU-CIS?
Currently, we are only offering the downloads of Windows XP Professional, Visual Studio .NET, Project 2002, Visio 2002 and MSDN Libraries. The software licensed under the MSDNAA Program is available at your convenience from the ELMS MSDN Academic Alliance Software Center. How can I download the software?
Microsoft Windows XP, Visual .Net Professional, Project 2002, Visio 2002 and MSDN Libraries packages are available. We are currently working on pre-packaging more applications in the future. The current software is only available in ISO format, and can be extracted to CD or a file location by using either CD burning software, or by using a 3rd party utility. Please click here to view step by step instructions on how to download and transfer ISO images to CD. PLEASE NOTE: Access to the download site is ONLY accessible from one of the Computer Science labs in the ECS Building. Any attempts to download from off-campus will result in corrupted packages. The JCCL (ECS 241) and Graduate (ECS 256) Labs are both equipped with CD writer to facilitate the transfer to CD. Our staff is also trained to answer any of your questions.
